White & Case welcomes seasoned HSF lawyer

White & Case is welcoming a seasoned lawyer in Australia.

Hamish Macpherson will join the elite New York-headquartered firm in Sydney, bolstering its global commercial litigation practice. He will move to the firm from Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF), where he once headed the global construction disputes group.

Macpherson brings with him a practice focused on construction litigation and construction claims management. He advises clients in the energy, resources, infrastructure, and construction sectors on disputes linked to electric, gas, solar, renewable energy, coal, and transportation projects.

“Hamish is a market-leading disputes lawyer who has helped his clients address conflicts that may emerge throughout a project’s life cycle,” said Glenn Kurtz, who heads White & Case’s global commercial litigation practice. “As a result, he will enhance our practice’s capabilities to handle complex litigation that commonly arises out of the development of infrastructure, resources and energy projects.”

Eric Berg, the firm’s chief in the Asia-Pacific region, said that Macpherson has successfully acted for clients on numerous landmark cases in Australian courts.

“Hamish will draw on these experiences to advise our clients in high-stakes commercial disagreements that take place on the ground in Australia,” Berg said.
