The new office will be led by Andrew Ailwood, who was previously with the BBC’s in-house team. Ailwood is an expert in media, technology and corporate law.

“The Australian media landscape is in an exciting phase, from the influx of global players to the increasingly international reach of Australian content. I am eager to leverage my experience at home and abroad to empower Australian clients in unlocking new avenues of growth and success”, he said.

Spencer West managing partner Antoine West described Australia’s legal landscape as one “known for its dynamism and innovation”. The firm indicated that the Australian expansion is in line with its strategy to extend its legal services across the globe.
