The counsel have been tasked to evaluate new laws consequential to the state’s building industry
Four senior lawyers, including a national firm’s head of construction and infrastructure, have been appointed to a new Queensland government panel.
The panel will evaluate new laws that are consequential to the state’s building industry. The appointments were announced by Mick de Brenni, the state’s housing and public works minister, on Tuesday.
The “Queensland Building Industry Fairness Reforms Implementation and Evaluation Panel” will be chaired by Bronwyn Weir, managing director of Weir Legal and Consulting.
Joining her is Troy Lewis, who heads the construction and infrastructure group at Holding Redlich.
“These laws represent a significant milestone for the Queensland building industry and it is essential they are rolled out effectively. This panel has been tasked with the important role of assessing the staged implementation of the legislation and assessing and reporting back on how it is tracking,” he said.

Also appointed to the panel are Jennifer Robertson and Fiona Aitchison Reid. Robertson, a practicing lawyer and corporate governance consultant, is the deputy chair of the Queensland Building and Construction Board. Reid is director and principal solicitor of Aitchison Reid Building and Construction Lawyers.
