A senior taxation lawyer and a corporate and M&A practice head have been appointed to three-year terms
Two leading lawyers have been appointed to the Australian Takeovers Panel.
Rory Moriarty and Teresa Dyson will start their three-year terms on 30 April. The panel will have 43 members, all of whom will serve on a part-time basis with the government body.
Moriarty is the national corporate, M&A, and capital markets practice leader at Clayton Utz. His practice is extensive and includes both domestic and cross-border M&A, takeovers, capital raisings, and corporate structuring.
Moriarty has been with the firm since 2002 and became a partner in 2010. Clayton Utz has been represented at the Takeovers Panel since 2003, when Perth-based corporate partner Mark Paganin was appointed to the panel. He is now an alumnus of the panel. Rod Halstead, the firm’s director of corporate and M&A, has been on the panel since 2010.

Dyson is a consultant at McCullough Robertson. She commenced her private-practice career with legacy Blake Dawson in 1997 and left the Ashurst partnership in 2013 to join Deloitte Australia as a partner. The taxation law expert moved to McCullough Robertson, where she is currently a consultant, in 2016.
The Takeovers Panel has three new members. John O’Sullivan, who was Credit Suisse’s investment banking and capital markets chairman for the Asia-Pacific region until earlier this year, was also appointed by the organisation.
