Gadens gains new partner

Gadens has appointed a new banking and finance partner.

Brad Allen has joined the Gadens partnership from DibbsBarker, where he was a banking, insolvency, and disputes partner. DibbsBarker ceased operations earlier this month.

With more than 15 years of experience in banking and finance law, Allen has acted for financiers and major corporations on a range of syndicated, leveraged, property and other debt financing transactions. He has particular focus on corporate and acquisition finance.

“Brad is a very pleasing addition to our banking and finance group, further increasing our national offering for clients,” said Grant Scott-Hayward, Gadens’ chief executive officer. “Brad's experience includes having acted for clients in relation to their debt facilities, syndicated and bilateral financiers providing facilities to some of Australia's major retailers and also financial services clients in relation to various secured facilities. He has also acted for financiers and borrowers on various debt finance transactions in the property and construction sector.”

Allen said he decided to join Gadens because of its “well-recognised, strong national banking practice in the Australian market.”

“As one of the few law firms advising all the major banks and a firm that advises in excess of a quarter of all ASX-listed entities, the opportunities are enormous and extremely exciting,” he said. “Gadens has a strong banking and finance practice and a strong strategic outlook, as well as a supportive and collaborative culture which I look forward to being a part of.”

Gaden’s most recent partner appointments are Donna Bartlett and Paul Lewis.

Dentons recently welcomed 20 senior lawyers from DibbsBarker. Hall & Wilcox has also hired a 20-strong team in Brisbane from the shuttered firm. It later took one more partner.

Keypoint Law has taken two partners, while Piper Alderman and Maddocks took one each.
