Exclusive: Firm unveils first in-house forum

K&L Gates has found a solution to the immense amount of business and legal information GCs need to stay up to date with.  The firm has launched a virtual conference centre, HUB, designed to keep GCs up to date with sector-specific developments, complete with online CLE courses.

K&L Gates’ HUB was launched following extensive research, which found that GCs had no default destination for industry updates.  Lawyers at the firm are constantly adding information to the site to keep users up to date with regulatory changes.

“Corporate legal departments and C-suite executives are faced with the ongoing challenge of keeping up with ever-changing laws and regulations,” said K&L Gates Chief Marketing Officer, Jeffrey Berardi.  “In response, K&L Gates HUB was designed and built for the sole purpose of sharing new developments at the intersection of business and the law, in order to more effectively address the self-described needs of in-house counsel.”

The free site is fully integrated with mobile devices and was lauded as being an innovative solution at a legal marketing conference when it was launched in the US earlier this year.

“The content on the digital site is intuitively sorted along industry rather than practice group lines to allow for easier search as well as instant access to the latest legal insights across more than 30 sectors and subjects,” Berardi said.  “We have heard from numerous sources that they especially like that they can sit at their desk and watch recorded webinars, participate in presentations for continuing legal education purposes, and receive other relevant content.”

The site has had a positive reception from clients and the firm hopes to build strong and lasting relationships with site visitors over time.

“The site was not built to flaunt the firm’s practices, strengths or other marketing materials; rather, it was designed with the needs of in-house counsel around the world in mind,” he said.  “As with other firm initiatives, we try to look at things from the perspective of our clients and devise solutions that will help their business.”
