Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) has named Jinny Chaimungkalanont as the new managing partner of its Asia and Australia finance practice.

Chaimungkalanont stepped into her new role on 1 May. She succeeds Andrew Booth, who led the practice since 2017.

“I am thrilled to be leading our outstanding finance team across Asia and Australia, and to build on the success of Andrew’s legacy”, Chaimungkalanont said. “I will focus on fostering a connected regional team, as well as growing our practice in line with the firm’s strategic direction, including in the areas of private capital and energy transition”.

Chaimungkalanont made partner at HSF in 2012. At present, she leads the firm's states taxes practice, a role she will continue to hold.

She brings over 20 years of experience in tackling matters involving stamp duty and other state taxes across Australia. She has worked in the real estate, funds management, finance, infrastructure, energy, renewables, mining, and healthcare sectors.

Booth confirmed that he would provide support to Chaimungkalanont in her new position in addition to sharpening his focus on international and domestic debt capital markets and corporate finance transactions.

Chaimungkalanont will work from HSF’s Sydney office.
