Ashurst boosts IP chops with international lateral recruit

by |

Ashurst has given its IP team in Sydney a boost with a recruit from Hong Kong’s oldest law firm.

Nina Fitzgerald has joined the partnership, bringing to the firm her expertise in IP law, including trademark, copyright, designs and confidential information areas. She has a focus on patent litigation.

She moved from Deacons, where she was a senior associate since 2015. She was also previously with Herbert Smith Freehills in Australia and Hong Kong.

“Nina's appointment is a key part of our strategy to continue to invest in our first tier IP practice in Australia and to build the firm's global intellectual property footprint,” said Lisa Ritson, Ashurst’s global IP leader.

Fitzgerald is a highly regarded and accomplished practitioner whose patent litigation expertise will enhance the firm’s IP practice, she said.

“Nina has significant experience across all areas of IP, with a particular focus in pharmaceuticals and technology, which is a perfect complement to our existing offering,” said Lea Constantine, who co-heads Ashurst’s disputes practice.

Ashurst offers her the best platform, Fitzgerald said, because its IP team is globally recognised for both its quality of lawyers and clients.
