Fangda takes Shearman’s Asia capital markets head

Fangda Partners has attracted the former head of capital markets in Asia at Shearman & Sterling.

Partner Colin Law moves to the Chinese firm in Hong Kong, taking with him partner Peter Chen, a counsel, and an associate. The two firms will still work together on projects as the team transitions.

Law and Chen also made their last move together when they left O’Melveny & Myers in 2010 for Shearman & Sterling.

Law is a specialist in securities and M&A, with a particular focus on China and the biotech, healthcare, and media industries. Chen is an expert in M&A, corporate law, and corporate finance. His practice services the financial services, consumer products, healthcare, and TMT sectors.

Fangda has been making major hires. It recently hired Zili Shao, who was King & Wood Mallesons’ Asia head, and Fang Jian, who was Linklaters’ China chief.
