Innovative Firms 2019

MinterEllison has spearheaded a number of exciting new innovation initiatives lately. Realising the “enormous amount of time reviewing and checking lengthy documents” that lawyers engage in, MinterEllison developed and released a new App, Definition Checker; “a technology-driven solution that assists lawyers with checking, merging and adapting huge contracts.” Another exciting development is MEIKA (MinterEllison Intelligent Knowledge Assistant), an IBM Watson AI tool that assists streamlining and automating significant parts of the processes involved in managing particular high-volume matters. Such innovations are undergirded by the firm’s ‘Project Miyagi’ innovation framework. Launched last year, this “business transformation program … combines powerful and trusted methodologies into a readily deployable and scalable model to lead legal process improvement within the firm.”
