McCabes appoints principal in IP group

McCabes Lawyers has appointed Mindaugas Skavronskas as principal in the intellectual property group of the company. The appointment is the ninth principal hire for McCabes in the 2023 calendar year in its aim to "to expand the number of high-performance leaders in key positions".

Skavronskas specialises in intellectual property issues and trademark issues. He has experience in advising for large and mega-corporations, the Commonwealth, and state governments. Skavronskas has also advised for M&A transactions and commercialisation and is currently featured in the World Trademark Review (WTR) 1000.

Andrew Lacey, managing partner at McCabes, described the appointment as a “strategic move to expand the firm’s IP capabilities”.

“Gus brings with him an outstanding level of expertise to McCabes and I expect that he will make an immediate impact in strengthening the IP group," said Lacey.

"The appointment of highly skilled practitioners is a significant step in proactively adding value to the division and by extension, the rest of the firm.”

McCabes Lawyers specialises in advising for commercial issues, including regulatory change and reputation management, managing legal liabilities, and advising for insurance, such as for insurers, underwriters, and brokers, among others.
