Macpherson Kelley announces six promotions

Macpherson Kelley has announced six promotions, including a promotion to principal and another to special counsel within the intellectual property team.

The firm has promoted Mark Metzeling to principal within its commercial team in Brisbane and Dandenong-based Nils Versemann to special counsel in the Victoria commercial team.

“Ranked in World Trademark Review for a variety of IP and trademark categories, Mark’s considered advice and dedication to his role is one of the many factors leading to his promotion,” the firm said in a statement. “His diverse network of clients, from start-ups to national subsidiaries of global corporations, demonstrates that no matter is too big or small for quality expertise.”

“[Meanwhile], Nils consistently impresses clients and colleagues with his strong technical skills, work ethic and his commercial and pragmatic approach to matters,” the firm said. “His close client relationships enable him to raise opportunities or pro-actively mitigate their risks – while building his practice at the same time.”

“Mark and Nils have demonstrated exceptional technical expertise complimented by a focus on client service and strengthening relationships that has resulted in enormous trust and respect from clients and colleagues alike,” said Grant Guenther, national managing principal lawyer at Macpherson Kelley. “It is great to see the strength of our national IP team continue to grow as does the diversity in their client base. Congratulations to them both.”

The pair are joined by Catherine Tan in Melbourne, June Lee in Sydney, and Lachlan Henry in Brisbane, who have all been promoted to senior associate; and Veronica Voulgaris in Dandenong, who has been promoted to associate
