Firms act in one of the largest ever investment fund ASX floats

Three firms have had confirmed roles in one of Australia’s largest ever investment fund flotations on the ASX.

Australian investment manager L1 Capital has successfully floated the L1 Long Short Fund on the ASX. The fund initially sought to raise up to $600m, but it ended up securing $1.35bn from investors.

Baker McKenzie was the law firm of choice for National Australia Bank as the float’s sole arranger. The leading firm was also legal adviser to joint lead managers Crestone Wealth Management, Morgan Stanley, Morgans Financial, Ord Minnett, Taylor Collison, and Wilsons.

The Baker McKenzie team was led by partner Duncan McGrath. He was assisted by associate Andrew Slucky and graduate lawyer Daniella Lambert.

L1 was advised in Australian law matters by Kardos Scanlan, a Sydney corporate law-focused boutique. Webb Henderson provided New Zealand legal advice.
