ACT Bar announces new leaders

A new president takes the helm on 18 March

ACT Bar announces new leaders

The ACT Bar Association has announced a new executive team to lead the organisation starting 18 March.

Brodie Buckland steps up as president, with Prue Bindon serving as vice president and Jamie Ronald as treasurer. Merrilyn Davis will also take a seat as a general member of the council.

The council finalised the appointments in a unanimous decision at its monthly meeting on 26 February. According to the association's constitution, the new leaders will maintain their roles until the association's next general meeting in September.

The move came after outgoing president Marcus Hassall accepted a new role as a special magistrate at the ACT Magistrates Court. His three-year term in the position commences on 2 April.

Nonetheless, as per clause 10.4A of the association’s constitution, Hassall is set to continue with the Bar Council as the immediate past president for up to 12 months whilst retaining his Class A membership in the association.
