The new appointments take effect on 1 July
Mills Oakley has recently announced that it promoted 55 lawyers to partners, special counsels, senior associates, and associates.
The firm named three new partners – Brisbane-based corporate partner Scott Coulthart, Sydney-based property partner Matthew Barry and insurance partner Nikki Cassar. Their appointments take effect on 1 July.
Coulthart specialises in creative, technology, and big data. He regularly advises companies about protection and commercialisation of their products, data and IP. He brings specific industry experience and expertise on technology and data related contracts and contracts in the entertainment industry, including music, film, TV, radio and online.
His clients include technology companies, data licensing companies, health services providers, scientific research and education institutes and film production companies.
Barry has over 20 years of experience in real estate and construction-related matters, including acquisitions and disposals and developing commercial, industrial and mixed-use development sites. His expertise includes acting on acquiring and disposing of commercial, retail, industrial and residential development assets, preparing bid documents, and advising clients on all forms of title and land uses. He has advised government authorities, state owned corporations, institutional investors and private clients.
Cassar has over 15 years of specialist experience in the areas of public liability and professional negligence claims. She has advised clients on cases concerning policy wording, indemnity, liability, damages, risk allocation and alternative dispute resolution. She has provided clients with commercial advice and assisted them with mitigating damages.
Her clients include NSW Councils, local government insurance schemes, commercial property managers and local public liability insurers. She has represented clients in most jurisdictions throughout New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia and the High Court of Australia.
