Gilchrist Connell boosts professional indemnity offering with new senior associate

Gilchrist Connell has enhanced its national professional indemnity and D&O practice with the appointment of senior associate Nicole Batista.

Batista is qualified to practise in both South Africa and Australia. She started her legal career in commercial law before moving into commercial insurance.

She has extensive experience in financial lines insurance, including financial institutions, D&O liability, and professional indemnity. She has advised on high-value coverage issues related to financial institutions, corporate misconduct and shareholder disputes.

Batista has also acted as defence counsel in claims against professionals, directors and officers, and financial institutions. She has provided guidance in class actions and regulatory proceedings within the financial sector.

Batista will work with a team led by Sydney principal Celia Wright.
