New partner says Australia is a significant market for IP protection and litigation
Holding Redlich has added an IP expert to its technology, media, and communications team.
Blair Beven, who is based in Sydney, has joined the corporate and commercial group of the national firm from Mills Oakley, where he was also a partner. Holding Redlich said that he has a particular emphasis on IP, including trademarks and brand protection.
The appointment comes after Holding Redlich welcomed partner Liza Fitzgerald less than a month before from Allens, where she was a special counsel. Based in Melbourne, she specialises in data, technology, media, and telecommunications.
Beven said that Australia is a significant market for IP protection and litigation.
“In the last year alone, IP Australia has seen a demonstrable increase in the number of trade mark applications being filed with a 4% increase to 79,000 trademarks filed. Australia remains a significant market for IP protection and IP related litigation, creating a competitive edge for Australian businesses and broader economic growth,” he said.
Every company is affected by IP issues, he said.
