GREENWOODS & HERBERT SMITH FREEHILLS
Innovative Firms 2019

In early 2018 Greenwoods initiated a program aimed at transforming the firm “from being a conservative, paper-based traditional tax law practice into a future-fit advisory firm.” With a fresh leadership team, new business plans and revamped values, Greenwoods is effecting a real shakeup. One instance of their new innovative approach was the application of robotic process automation (RPA) software – in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team of lawyers, accountants, and technology experts – to radically refine and expedite calculations as part of their advisement to a high profile energy company regarding the tax implications of a corporate restructure. Other examples of Greenwoods innovation abound, and they see it as just the beginning of an exciting new era for the firm.
