Ben Willis, Head of legal, Nova Entertainment
In-house Leaders 2019

Willis has almost a superhero-like status within Nova Entertainment and across the broader media/legal industry as an exponent of strategic legal-commercial leadership, creative project management, and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. As a result, he’s been rewarded formally with internal appointments to the roles of head of legal, company secretary, executive on the national leadership team and privacy officer for the Nova Entertainment Group, as well as external appointments to the roles of director and company secretary of a number of joint commercial radio industry digital radio entities. Under his leadership, Willis has had several successes such as driving the transformation of the legal function from a traditional in-house support model to a commercially centric team; and leading the company’s response to an unauthorised data disclosure incident which required notifying approximately 250,000 individuals, interacting with the OAIC, liaising with media organisations and managing brand exposures.
