Gilchrist Connell has brought in a new principal as client demand soars.
Philip Duffy, an expert in workplace law, has joined the firm in its Melbourne office, adding further depth and his decades of experience to the national workplace practice. He moved from Ward Lawyers, where he was principal. He was also a partner at Aitken Partners and a principal at Macpherson Kelley.
“Client demand has seen us grow exponentially since day one. We’re now at the point where we’ve had to bring Philip on board earlier than expected and have him hit the ground running – fast,” said Joel Zyngier, who leads the firm’s workplace practice.
Duffy has developed a strong practice around WorkCover, OH&S, and general employment law in his more than 20 years in the area.
“He has earned an excellent reputation for navigating complex issues arising from these constantly evolving areas of law and will be a very welcome addition to our dedicated and hardworking team,” Zyngier said.
Duffy has successfully represented employers before the County and Supreme Courts. His core strength is delivering integrated recommendations to resolve workplace problems connected to employment, industrial relations, OH&S, and workers’ compensation, Gilchrist Connell said.
