US BigLaw scores Sydney real estate partner from A&O

The new partner currently advises clients in relation to some of Australia’s most iconic real estate assets.

Squire Patton Boggs has appointed former Allen & Overy Corporate counsel Dannelle Howley as its newest Real Estate partner in Sydney.

Howley is a real estate law specialist with a focus on complex, structured and large-scale transactions. The veteran lawyer graduated from Australian National University in 2002 and was admitted in the Australian Capital Territory in 2003. She is also a regular speaker at industry conferences and forums across both Australia and the Asia Pacific Region.

Howley currently advises clients in relation to some of Australia’s most iconic real estate assets. Transactions she has previously acted on include the acquisitions of the Australia Postal headquarters, Four Seasons Hotel Sydney and the Victorian Police Complex.

“Dannelle’s strong commercial acumen combined with a deep legal knowledge means that she will undoubtedly strengthen our global Real Estate team. We are very much looking forward to her joining us,” Carl Black, head of the Squire Patton Boggs Real Estate team in Australia, commented.

John Poulsen, Managing partner for Squire Patton Boggs in Australia, said the firm is “absolutely delighted” that Howley is now part of the firm’s team.

Her arrival follows the appointment of partner Rahul Parrab, a hospitality and real estate transactions expert, who joined the firm in September.

Cleveland, Ohio-headquartered Squire Patton Boggs has more than 1,500 lawyers in 46 offices across 21 countries. According to The American Lawyer, the firm had gross revenues of $929 million (about $1.23 billion) and profits per equity partner of $845,000 (about $1.12 million) for the most recent fiscal year.
