Two firms have confirmed their involvement in the $200m equity raising by Freedom Foods.

PwC Legal has confirmed to Australasian Lawyer that it is the legal counsel of Freedom Foods on its fully underwritten entitlement offer and placement.

The firm’s team advising Freedom Foods is led by partners Tim Blue and Michael O’Neill and director Tuanh Nguyen. They are spearheading a new focused growth play in equity capital markets for PwC, a spokesperson said.

Another key part of the deal team is Freedom Foods relationship manager Bryan Pointon, who was recently lured by the Big Four professional services firm from global law firm DLA Piper. Pointon was previously DLA Piper’s head of corporate for the Asia-Pacific region.

Ashurst is advising UBS Australia, and Veritas Securities, the underwriters of the deal. The global firm’s team is headed by partner Sarah Dulhunty.

The capital raising includes a pro rata accelerated non-renounceable entitlement offer of three new fully paid shares in Freedom Foods to raise about $100m. This tranche will settle on 11 April. The institutional placement also raised $100m and settled late last month.
