TurksLegal welcomes new partner in Melbourne

TurksLegal welcomes new partner in Melbourne

TurksLegal has welcomed Anthea Karvounaris as partner.

She joined the firm’s Victorian general insurance practice from Moray & Agnew, where she was appointed as partner in March. Prior to that, she was a principal at William Roberts Lawyers, also in Melbourne.

Karvounaris has extensive experience providing general and litigation advice to general insurers on a wide range of claims, including motor, property, fraud, and indemnity disputes, TurksLegal said.

“Anthea is recognised as an expert in her field [whose] down to earth and accessible approach makes her a pleasure to deal with and a perfect fit for TurksLegal,” the firm said.

The new appointment comes after the firm added special counsel Miriam Browne to its Newcastle office as special counsel. Browne, who specialises in workers’ compensation and work injury damages, moved from Sparke Helmore, where she was most recently a senior associate.

TurksLegal also recently promoted Sophie Campbell in Brisbane to senior associate. She is a part of the firm’s life insurance, superannuation team, and advice team.

TurksLegal recently lost eight lawyers, including two principals and a special counsel, who were hired by McCabe Curwood for its opening in Melbourne and expansion in Sydney.
