Top lawyer leaves private practice for new Vic statutory authority
Angela Skandarajah, MinterEllison’s head of real estate, environment, and planning, is leaving private practice to head Development Victoria, the state’s newest statutory authority, the firm has confirmed.

Skandarajah has achieved many accolades in her time with the firm since joining as a student paralegal in 1993. She served as Melbourne office staff partner, Melbourne office managing partner and most recently, national leader of the firm’s real estate business unit, said Tony Harrington, MinterEllison chief executive.

“She has been an inspirational role model and mentor to many younger partners and lawyers. Her contribution to the Melbourne office – and to the firm more broadly – has been significant. We thank her for all of that. We will miss her,” Harrington said.

Formed on 1 April by the combination of Places Victoria and Major Projects Victoria, Development Victoria will oversee the development of properties and precincts to meet the state’s policy objectives.

As legal counsel, Skandarajah will oversee all legal matters at the new authority including corporate governance. She will transfer to her new role by the end of June to early July, MinterEllison said.
