The office which will be located at 360 Collins St. will be headed by Bill Burrough, a Property & Projects senior partner, who will permanently relocate from Sydney.
Burrough will be initially supported by a small team the firm is recruiting as well as fly-in resources.
Stephen Purcell, DibbsBarker Managing Partner, said that the establishment of the Melbourne office is an important step in consolidating the firm’s east coast offering.
“The Melbourne market presents strong opportunities for us to grow our property practice and Bill is the perfect person to lead our offering,” he said.
He said that the opening of a Melbourne office makes “good business sense” due to existing client demand and new opportunities in the Victorian market.
“Many of our clients are already headquartered or very active in Melbourne and they’ve been asking us to be there, too,” said the managing partner. “We’ve listened, and we are looking forward to launching our on-the-ground presence there very soon.”
Purcell, who was appointed managing partner in May
after a seven-year stint as PPB Advisory CEO, also noted that the Melbourne office is expected to soon expand across other sectors that are strategic to the firm.
“We also see great prospects for expansion across other sectors on which the firm is strategically focused, such as financial services, insurance, life sciences and healthcare, as well as practice areas such as intellectual property and technology. In the coming months we will actively pursue opportunities in these areas,” he said.
DibbsBarker will open a Melbourne office on 1 December, initially focusing on property, a core sector of strategic priority for the growing firm.
