Sparke Helmore snags seasoned DLA Piper partner
Sparke Helmore has attracted a senior lawyer from DLA Piper, where he was partner for 20 years.

Peter Charteris, a specialist in complex income tax, stamp duty, and superannuation law, has joined the insurance-specialist firm’s Sydney office as a partner in the corporate and commercial practice group.

In his more than 30 years as a lawyer, he has worked with a wide variety of clients, including  large local and overseas property funds, private overseas investors, domestic fund managers, superannuation funds, and private clients.

Charteris is an expert in the income tax and stamp duty aspects of indirect inward investment structuring in real estate, investment manager regimes, financial products and private client issues.

He also focuses on legal issues affecting superannuation funds, which include regulatory and general law obligations, member communications, key service provider contracts, and member disputes, Sparke Helmore said.
