Seasoned property partner joins Squire Patton Boggs

A new senior partner known for his work in property and agribusiness has joined Squire Patton Boggs.

Michael Swift joined the global firm’s partnership on Monday, boosting the firm’s real estate practice. He made the move from Allion Partners, where he was partner-in-charge and leader of the boutique firm’s property and agribusiness teams. He was also previously at legacy Blake Dawson and at MinterEllison.

Swift will work on the property team alongside partners Mark Palermo in Perth and Dannelle Howley and Rahul Parrab in Sydney, the firm said. He will also have a focus on the firm’s rapidly expanding inbound-investment offering, working closely with Tony Chong, who is the firm’s Perth managing partner and head of the Australian Asia desk.

The appointment comes after the firm welcomed Palermo and David Starkoff to the partnership in March.

Swift brings to the firm an extensive network of domestic and international clients, including public companies, sovereign funds, developers, and government bodies. His practice services a wide range of property and project matters, including major infrastructure projects, transaction structuring, hotel developments, property subdivision and developments, strata title unit developments, joint ventures aviation and airport development, large-scale acquisitions and disposals and agribusiness, the firm said.

“Michael’s reputation as a leading property lawyer is well established both within the legal community and the business sector. Bringing him on board allows us to go to market in strength and to expand the areas of specialist expertise we can offer clients,” said Campbell Davidson, Australia managing partner.

Swift said that he looked forward to joining the team and enhancing the firm’s services because of the quality of its people, clients, markets, and offerings.
