SA law firm bolsters commercial, estate planning practices with new partner
South Australia-based law firm Mellor Olsson has appointed a new partner to its ranks as it seeks to further expand its commercial and estate planning practices.

Veteran lawyer James McEwan joins Mellor Olsson from a mid-tier South Australian firm. He has almost two decades of experience in public and private practice across the state and the Northern Territory.

McEwan particularly specialises in property, infrastructure and commercial law. He has also worked with private, local government, and agricultural clients.

“James’ work in the property sector, local government and agriculture match up with our core client bases and we’re delighted to have secured someone of his calibre and expertise,” said Mellor Olsson managing partner Greg Arthur.

McEwan also provides risk management and mitigation advice and advice on compliance with the Local Government Act 1999 (SA) and other legislation relevant to council decision-making and operations, the law firm said.

McEwan said he was attracted to the Mellor Olsson because of the opportunity to help drive the strategy and direction of the firm. “There is also scope to further grow the property and commercial practice, particularly in the local government space, where Mellor Olsson is already an established and well regarded firm.”

McEwan’s appointment takes the number of partners at Mellor Olsson to 14 and the number of lawyers to 23.
