RETRACTION AND APOLOGY: Firm under fire for not reporting office rape

Australasian Lawyer yesterday published a story based on Fairfax media reports that are incorrect.

Arnold Bloch Leibler is not currently under investigation by Victoria Police and has at all times cooperated, and continue to cooperate fully with Victoria Police in their investigation and prosecution of a former employee.

Commenting on the Fairfax report, Michael McGarvie, Victorian Legal Services Board and Commissioner, said his comments were taken out of context.

Australasian Lawyer apologises for this error, and any inference that partners at the firm lack proprietary.

Statement by Mark Leibler, Arnold Bloch Leibler

The report in the Fairfax press published 30 March 2016 concerning Arnold Bloch Leibler is both inaccurate and misleading. As the Senior Partner at Arnold Bloch Leibler, I am fully aware of the facts relating to this case and I am satisfied that we complied at all times with the applicable reporting obligations. I am unable to say more than this at this time because the matter is currently before the courts. However, any suggestion that this firm did not behave appropriately is totally without foundation and wrong.
