Projects and finance partner moves firms

Piper Alderman now has a stronger corporate and financial services team.

The firm has appointed Martin Lovell as partner in Adelaide. The leading projects and finance lawyer comes from South Australian firm Laity Morrow, where he spent nearly four years as director.

Before coming to Piper Alderman, he was a partner at legacy Kelly & Co, which was absorbed by HWL Ebsworth. He was also previously a lawyer at Linklaters in London.

Lovell’s recent mandates include major property and infrastructure developments, grid-connected battery projects, and project finance matters. He is also an expert in corporate finance, personal property securities, and trusts law.

“The number of senior appointments we have made recently reflects the areas where we believe real opportunities lie. These opportunities are driving our growth and development,” said Tony Britten-Jones, Piper Alderman managing partner.

The firm last grew its Adelaide banking and financial services team with the addition of partners Shannon Adams and Joshua Annese, as well as senior associate Elaine Cheung. Lovells hiring boosts the firm’s corporate and financial services practice nationally, the firm said.

Lovell will also complement the national infrastructure and projects team, which last year added partner Robert Riddell and special counsel Daniel Fitzpatrick from Dentons.
