NSW trials online court

NSW lawyers will now be able to make requests and seek preliminary orders online.

Seeking preliminary orders such as adjournments and hearing dates will be some time saving requests now available to Local Court matters, 9News reported.

“We are witnessing a demand-driven service revolution across all areas of business and our community,” said NSW Attorney-General, Gabrielle Upton.

She added that the new online system would improve access to justice by making court processes cheaper and easier.

“People expect to be able to access services they need when and where they want,” she said.

The 12 week trial is part of the NSW government’s Justice Online Project, a $9.2m including the Online Registry which has already had 250,000 forms have been lodged to Supreme, District and Local Courts.

If the program’s trial is successful, it will be rolled out further next year.
