Norton Rose Fulbright announces merger
Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has announced a combination with Canadian firm Bull Housser & Tupper in Vancouver.

While NRF already has a presence in much of Canada, the combination adds British Columbia to the mix and will bolster the firm’s growing Pacific Rim practice which includes a recently-added office in San Francisco.

The global firm’s existing managing partner for Canada Charles Hurdon will remain in that role for the expanded business as will Vancouver office managing partner Janet Grove.
Clyde & Co to move to new landmark Sydney office
Clyde & Co Australia has outgrown its Sydney office and will move down the street to a new landmark building.

The firm has seen its headcount in the city more than double since the start of 2016, adding 5 partners and more than 40 staff from the boutique insurance firm Lee & Lyons. Hires from other law firms have resulted in a team of more than 120.

The new location is the 18-storey 333 George Street where the firm will occupy 5 floors with staff on levels 9 to 12 and the client reception on level 15.

The building is expected to be completed later this year with Clyde & Co expected to relocate early in 2017.
Sydney special counsel swaps Baker & McKenzie for Squire Patton Boggs
Real estate special counsel Rahul Parrab is joining Squire Patton Boggs in Sydney from Baker & McKenzie.

Parrab is a hospitality and real estate transactions expert and has recently advised on a number of high profile matters, including the sales and acquisitions of hotels, resorts and tourism assets in Australia and Asia Pacific.
South Korea desk expands Olswang’s Asia-Pac capabilities
Olswang has expanded its capabilities in Asia Pacific with the launch of a one-man operation in South Korea.

US-trained lawyer Steve Kim has joined the firm as a consultant and will work closely with the teams in Singapore and Olswang’s association firms in the region.

His focus will be on developing the firm’s profile with the growing South Korean technology sector including deals, litigation and IP advice.
