Holding Redlich has scored a senior partner from another commercial firm. The firm has appointed Esteban Gomez, formerly of Piper Alderman, as its newest corporate and commercial partner in Brisbane.

Gomez, who has 15 years’ local and international experience, joined Piper Alderman in early 2015. He previously worked at Clayton Utz and international talent manager Hudson.

He brings to the firm high-level M&A and capital markets experience in Australia and overseas. He regularly advises on matters across a wide range of industries, including education, energy and resources, construction, government, retail, telecommunications, and IT.

Gomez, who is a fluent Spanish speaker, also advises start-up companies on commercial matters and businesses on corporate governance issues, including for compliance with the ASX Corporate Governance Principles and Recommendations.

Gomez said that this is an exciting time to be working in the M&A and capital markets sectors. He believes Australia will see strong M&A and capital markets activity throughout 2017.

“While the macro economic and political environment continues to be predictably unpredictable, this mixed landscape can also present opportunities for businesses seeking to move quickly as opportunities arise and I expect the remainder of 2017 to continue a positive trend in mid-market M&A and capital markets activity,” he said. “Australia also remains a favourable destination for inward investment from overseas, and I look forward to continued activity in this area.”

Last month, Holding Redlich appointed three partners in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
