National firm nabs top medical lawyer

Carroll & O’Dea Lawyers has hired Bill Madden, who most recently led Slater and Gordon’s Medical Law National Practice Group. The medical law specialist, who’s also an academic, joins the national firm effective immediately. Madden, who has more than three decades of experience, had been with Slater and Gordon since 2001.

In addition to his new role, Madden is also an adjunct professor in the Australian Centre for Health Law Research at Queensland University of Technology and adjunct fellow at the Universities of Melbourne and Western Sydney.

Madden is also a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law and a co-author of the Health Care and the Law and Australian Medical Liability books. He also co-authored the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

Madden will be working across multiple practice areas at Carroll & O’Dea Lawyers’ offices in Sydney and Melbourne. The firm also has offices in Campbelltown, Canberra, Darwin, Newcastle, Parramatta, Port Stephens, Tuggerah and Wollongong.
