MinterEllison scoops up resources expert

MinterEllison has boosted its national environment and planning practice with the addition of a resources partner in Brisbane.

Tim Hanmore has been appointed by the Australian giant as partner, making the move from McCullough Robertson, where he was a partner for nearly eight years. He was also previously a senior associate at legacy Blake Dawson, where he was seconded to Santos.

Hanmore – who has extensive experience in all stages of the exploration, development, and production lifecycle of resources projects – is recognised for his focus on results and for being a forthright in acting for resources and energy companies in environmental management, MinterEllison said. He also works on conditioned approvals for major projects, government liaison, compliance and incident response, project acquisition and divestment.

“As we continue to expand our national environment and planning practice, the addition of Tim not only adds specialist expertise, but also further enhances our ability to provide a complete suite of planning and environment services for major property, large infrastructure and energy and resources projects around Australia,” said Virginia Briggs, MinterEllison's managing partner for infrastructure, construction and property.

Simon Ball, who leads the firm’s national environment and planning practice, said that the broad scope of Hanmore’s practice has enabled him to work on some of the largest and most complex projects in Australia.

“His deep understanding of Queensland and federal environmental regulation enables him to deliver seamless advice,” Ball said.

Hanmore also advises coal and coal-seam gas entities on development and product supply, complex overlapping tenement considerations, and the implications of the carbon regime.
