Mills Oakley makes tax team hire from rival

Mills Oakley has welcomed a tax team, which includes one partner, to the firm.

Partner Marina Raulings commenced at the national firm last week, joined by two members of her team from Hall & Wilcox, senior associate Nicola Crowle and graduate Keira Tweedie.

The appointments come after Mills Oakley recruited tax partner Andrew Spalding from Norton Rose Fulbright in December.

“Taxation advice is a natural complement to many of our key practice areas such as property, insurance and corporate,” said John Nerurker, Mills Oakley chief executive. “Marina’s arrival is another important advance in our capability to advise clients on multiple aspects of the same transaction. Moreover, the addition of Marina and Andrew to our existing taxation practice means that we can offer market-leading indirect taxation expertise.”

Raulings is recognised as an expert in stamp duty, land tax and payroll tax. She also specialises in M&A, de-mergers, corporate restructures, IPOs, property transactions, trusts, and securitisations.

She adds to the firm more than 20 years’ experience advising Australian and international corporate and government entities, as well as family groups, on income tax, GST, and state taxes.

The new partner said that she looks forward to working with Spalding to boost the firm’s taxation offering.

“Andrew’s precedent-setting achievements in the areas of stamp duty and GST litigation are well known, and it is exciting to join forces with Andrew and our colleagues in the Mills Oakley tax and private advisory practices,” she said.
