Mills Oakley has appointed Jason McCubbin as the newest partner in its insolvency and mortgage recovery practice.

McCubbin joined the firm in Brisbane from Thomson Geer, where he was a partner since 2016. He was also previously with DLA Phillips Fox.

The firm said that a major factor in the hire was the fact that McCubbin shares a number of clients with the Mills Oakley insolvency and mortgage recovery team.

“We often speak of practice synergies, but client synergies are an equally important part of the hiring process,” said John Nerurker, Mills Oakley chief executive. “Jason  brings a considerable understanding of our clients’ businesses which will enhance our service delivery.”

McCubbin said that he was drawn by the opportunity to grow his practice at the firm.

“I am particularly looking forward to working with Stephen Dickens and Dale Cliff in the Brisbane commercial disputes practice and adding further strength to the team,” he said.

The appointment comes after Mills Oakley welcomed special counsel Rebecca Taseff in Perth.
