More partners leave the rival firm in its final months before it joins a global giant

McCullough Robertson has brought in two senior partners from Henry Davis York (HDY).

The firm has strengthened its New South Wales presence with the appointment of Jason Munstermann and Scarlet Reid. The new partners move into the firm’s litigation business unit, led by partner Guy Humble, along with three senior members of their teams.

Munstermann led HDY’s disputes team. He is an expert in dispute resolution, advising clients in the government, financial, property, mining, insurance, and telecommunications sectors.

Senior associates and employment relations and safety specialists Tom Reaburn and Nathan Roberts, as well as senior associate and litigation and dispute resolution Chris Nielsen, are also joining the firm.

Reid led the employment and safety law group at HDY. Her clients include large corporations and government agencies. She also has particular expertise in safety-law violations investigations, including workplace-incidents investigations and coronial inquest representations.

The latest hires align with the firm’s strategy to “build a true east-coast brand which is different to other national law firms, and offers a different national and international platform to our competitors,” said Dominic McGann, McCullough Robertson’s chairman of partners.

“We are looking forward to their contribution as we continue to align our expertise and industry footprints to capitalise on emerging markets and opportunities,” McGann said.

It was recently confirmed that the merger between HDY and Norton Rose Fulbright will go live on 1 December. Both firms have suffered multiple partner defections since the merger was approved by each of their partnerships in June. The losses are common ahead of mergers, NRF said.
