Corrs Chambers Westgarth has welcomed Michelle Dean to the partnership.
Dean, a specialist in litigation and restructuring, was elevated from special counsel. She joined the firm in 2015 from King & Wood Mallesons, where she was a senior associate. She was also previously a senior associate at DLA Piper in the UK.
The appointment comes after Corrs named two new special counsel, four new senior associates, 32 new associates, and 11 new non-lawyer promotions in its most recent promotion round.
“Specialising in commercial litigation and insolvency and restructuring, Michelle is widely recognised in the Australian market as a first-class litigator,” said John W.H. Denton AO, CEO and partner. “Michelle has spent her career representing large corporate groups in complex matters with lean and focussed teams, delivering client-driven and commercially aware outcomes.”
The promotion will enable the firm to present a truly national restructuring and insolvency team to clients across the whole breadth of Australia, he said.
Dean’s practice covers a wide range of clients, including Australia’s largest banks and international oil and gas and iron ore companies. She is recognised for her expertise, most recently being appointed to the Western Australia committee of the Australian Restructuring, Insolvency & Turnaround Association, the country’s peak body for insolvency-industry professionals.
