Holding Redlich lawyers ran for a good cause over the weekend, raising more than $17,000 for cancer research.

A team of 43 from the national firm’s Sydney office completed a 10-kilometre course that crossed the Harbour Bridge and finished at the Opera House for the 2019 Blackmores Running Festival to support the Australian Cancer Research Fund (ACRF).

Ashleigh Mills, Holding Redlich senior associate and the coordinator of the team, said that the run was a great success.

“The weather was perfect and you could feel a real sense of team spirit among the group,” she said.

Holding Redlich said that a series of events were held during the run-up to the festival, including a morning tea presentation by the ACRF at the firm’s Sydney office to launch the campaign, forming a morning “run club” to help the team train, a running clinic with Athletics Australia coach Jim Owens, and a Friday pizza night fundraising event.

Stephen Trew, Sydney managing partner, also participated in the run. He said he is very proud of the team’s efforts.

“This has proven to be a very successful team effort with a substantial amount raised for a wonderful cause,” he said. “Overall, the Australian Cancer Research Foundation ended up as the seventh top charity in terms of total funds raised, and Holding Redlich finished as the sixth-highest fundraising team across the entire Sydney Running Festival. This is an amazing achievement.”
