Thynne + Macartney has welcomed Alex Ramsey to the partnership, who joined the firm 10 years ago as a law clerk.
“This promotion recognises Alex’s ability to build strong relationships and his specialised knowledge of the issues facing the agribusiness sector,” said Peter Jolly, chairman of partners.
With more than 10 years in the sector, Ramsey has extensive experience in large-scale rural and commercial property transactions, estate planning, business structuring, and landholder compensations negotiations.
Ramsey will lead the firm’s agribusiness group with partners Peter Kenny and Ari McCamley, Thynne + Macartney said. The group services farmers, graziers, and business with rural, residential, and commercial property portfolios in Queensland, New South Wales, and the Northern Territory.
Thynne + Macartney now lists 20 partners on its website. The firm, which celebrated its 125th anniversary this year, has offices in Brisbane, Cairns, and Darwin in Australia, as well as Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea.
In June, the firm announced the arrival of special counsel Peter Mills and senior associate Michael Mayes to bolster the firm’s property and banking and finance groups, respectively.
