K&L Gates launches trial academy

K&L Gates has launched the K&L Gates Trial Academy in the US.

“The establishment of the K&L Gates Trial Academy in the U.S. allows us to showcase and enhance our firm’s ability to represent clients in high-stakes litigation expected to go the distance – through verdict,” said Thomas E. Birsic, who leads the firm’s global litigation and dispute resolution practice.

However, it is more than just a training program for the firm’s next-generation trial lawyers.

The new program better brings together the firm’s resources for clients who are either developing long-term strategy for, or are on the eve of, trials and other evidentiary hearings. Those resources include experience and capabilities that go beyond those regularly associated with litigation, like discovery, motion practice, and arguments.

The firm is making it easier for clients and its lawyers to find resources as matters near trial. In addition to fostering collaboration, the academy also will formalize the identification of critical trial resources like jury consultants, trial technology teams, e-discovery capabilities, the firm said.

It will also involve the rollout of enhanced internal training programs and allow the more formal exchange of experiences and knowledge across the firm’s generations of lawyers.
