Insurance specialist firm bolsters two practices with lateral hires
Wotton + Kearney (W+K) is strengthening two of its practice groups with lateral hires from an insurance company and a rival law firm that specialises in the insurance industry.

Kieran Doyle and Sarah Wood have been appointed as special counsel in the firm’s directors and officers (D&O) and employment practices liability (EPL) practices, respectively.

Doyle comes to W+K from Chubb, where he led the large financial lines claims team. The firm said that it hired Doyle because of its growing client requirements in complex D&O matters, including class actions. He brings to the team an in-depth understanding of claims processes and the associated management of all stakeholder expectations. His high-profile matters include shareholder class actions against ASX200 companies, banks, and asset managers.

Wood comes to W+K from Sparke Helmore, where she was part of the workplace practice. W+K says Wood, who has extensive experience in advising corporations on an array of employment related disputes, will lead the growth of the EPL practice.

W+K now has 23 special counsel. The insurance law specialist firm has more than 125 lawyers working out of its offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth.
