HWL Ebsworth advises on sale of iconic Australian brand

HWL Ebsworth has advised the shareholders of The Décor Corporation on its sale to Marlin Home for an undisclosed sum in a transaction that closed on 10 February. This is the second major acquisition of South Africa-based Marlin Home in Australia following its purchase of homewares wholesaler Albi last year.

Established in Melbourne in 1958, the privately held Décor has an internationally recognised brand name in household goods, particularly kitchen containers. About 80% of its products are designed and manufactured in Australia, a tradition which the company said will continue after the sale.

The HWL Ebsworth team was led by partner Sam Dwyer of the firm’s and special counsel Paul Lewis. Both are with the firm’s corporate practice and are based in Melbourne.
