A team of Herbert Smith Freehills employment lawyers will be among the thousands of dressed up Santas for the Variety – the Children’s Charity’s 7th annual Santa Fun Run on Sunday.
The team will fundraise as much as possible for children in need and have taken to Facebook to rally support from friends and family.
HSF solicitor and team leader Zoe Adams-Lau said the team’s involvement originally came about through partner Michael Gonski, who is married to the charity’s donor relations director. She said the run has quickly become an annual tradition.
“Through our involvement in the Santa Fun Run we have learnt much more about Variety’s work and the positive impact the charity has on lives of children and their families,” Adams-Lau told Australasian Lawyer.
“Variety is invaluable to many children who need equipment and therapy to help them get the most out of life. Providing equipment and therapy can mean kids are able to participate more at school and in the playground and this helps children gain independence and self-esteem.
“The run is a great way for us to get together and have some fun while helping children in need.”
Adams-Lau joked that the team, named ‘The Termination Clauses’, are training hard, doing 30 seconds of push-ups in the office as well as eating plenty of chocolate to ensure the Santa suits fit.
