HopgoodGanim welcomes tax leader from Big Four firm

HopgoodGanim Lawyers has brought in a well-known tax lawyer to lead its national tax practice.

Michael Patane has been appointed as partner, making the move from EY, where he was a tax and commercial lawyer. He was also previously a consultant at Clayton Utz, a partner at Deloitte, and deputy chief tax counsel for indirect taxes at the Australian Taxation Office.

“With Michael’s appointment, HopgoodGanim will continue to deliver on its promise of providing industry-leading commercial legal advice to clients across the country,” the firm said.

Patane’s extensive experience in taxation includes due diligence, sales and acquisitions, share sales and purchase agreements, joint ventures, shareholder agreements, property developments, and funding agreements.

“Michael’s experience is impressive,” said Bruce Humphrys, managing partner. “I know our clients will benefit greatly from Michael’s appointment and I’m looking forward to introducing him to them.”
