Griffith Hack takes back partner

Griffith Hack is welcoming back Andrew Goatcher.

The senior lawyer will be commencing as a principal in the firm’s law and trademarks group on 2 July. He returns from commercial law firm Cornwall Stodart, where he moved as a partner in 2015.

“We’re looking forward to Andrew rejoining Griffith Hack and helping clients to protect and leverage their IP,” said David Madigan, Griffith Hack executive general manager.

Highly respected in the IP space, Goatcher has extensive experience in patents, trademarks, copyright, plant breeders’ rights, and confidential information. His practice covers a range of sectors, including mining, manufacturing, agriculture, fashion, automotive, foods, and electronics.

Goatcher, who joins the firm’s Melbourne office, is the immediate past president of the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand.

He began his career as associate in the Federal Court of Australia, first to Justice CA Sweeney CBE KCSG and then to Chief Justice MEJ Black AC. He was also a solicitor at Clayton Utz and a special counsel at Allens Arthur Robinson.
