Jones Day has welcomed Lucas Wilk to the firm’s Perth office. Wilk has joined the firm as a partner at the firm’s global disputes practice.

Wilk, who has more than 20 years’ experience as a disputes lawyer, was previously a partner at Ashurst, where he spent 15 years. He specialises on complex commercial litigation and arbitration, and the resolution of large corporate disputes.

Wilk, who acts for clients both in Australia and abroad, worked most recently in insolvency workouts and restructurings, primarily on behalf of corporate boards hoping to restructure their companies, and bank or financier enforcements by way of forbearance, receivership, or debt sales, said the firm.

In addition to bringing experience in disputes in oil and gas, joint ventures, shareholder and board matters, and statutory derivative actions, Wilk is also experienced in fraud investigations and tracing assets in fraud cases, working closely with clients and lawyers outside of Australia.

Wilk’s appointment follows Andrew Smith’s arrival in Brisbane in January.  The firm now has more than 70 lawyers across offices its three offices. It opened in Sydney in 1998, while it opened its Perth and Brisbane offices in 2014 and 2016, respectively.
