Global law firm Hogan Lovells has launched a mentors program specifically to help its FinTech clients.

The program will enable FinTechs to access information and advice from the firm’s most experience financial services and regulatory partners in Hong Kong, US, UK and Germany.

As well as legal advice, the program will offer commercial insight including help on launching, expanding and improving products; compliance training through events; use of a suite of FinTech-focused tools.

Among the partners participating in the program is Hong Kong corporate and commercial partner Mark Parsons.

Twenty-one lawyers have been promoted to the partnership of Herbert Smith Freehills including three in Asia.

In Hong Kong, Hannah Cassidy becomes the firm’s second dedicated financial services regulatory partner in Asia. The promotion requires regulatory approval but she will become a senior regulated foreign lawyer in Hong Kong from 1st May 2017.

Currently based in Australia, Glynn Cooper will move to HSF’s new office in Kuala Lumpur as a corporate partner advising on M&A, joint ventures, corporate restructurings and the investment aspects of project developments.

Finally, Fatim Jumabhoy is promoted to partner in the Singapore office, focusing on employment, pensions and incentives.

White & Case adds Skadden partner to M&A team in Beijing
Jianchong (Andre) Zhu has joined the global M&A team of White & Case in Beijing. With a focus on private equity, he joins from Skadden with almost ten years’ experience.

"Andre's private equity experience supports the growing needs of our financial sponsor clients, who are increasingly focusing on inbound and outbound M&A in Asia," said White & Case partner Chris Kelly, who leads the M&A practice in Asia-Pacific. "His familiarity with capital markets and funds provides additional strength to our private equity offering in China."
