legacy Henry Davis York
The firm has appointed Robert Tracy and Edward “Ted” Nixey as partners. The senior lawyers come to Gadens with their team, including special counsel Breanna Davies, lawyer Michael Fitzpatrick, and staff Julie Beatty and Jodi Griffin.
The hires follow the firm’s appointment of partner Dermott Lynch
in late November in Sydney. Earlier last month, it hired partner James Roland
from TurksLegal and partner Kathy Merrick
, the former HDY regulatory investigations and disputes practice head, and her team. In September, the firm hired partner Brett Feltham
from DLA Piper
Tracy formerly led HDY’s corporate and M&A practice. He specialises corporate transactions, competition and consumer law, and inbound foreign investment. He has extensive experience in acquisitions and disposals, commercial arrangements, joint ventures, investment structures, capital raisings, corporate governance, and directors' duties advice.
Nixey, who joined HDY in August from a senior in-house role at Simavita Ltd and ATEC Rail Group, focuses on M&A, primary and secondary capital raisings, corporate restructuring, commercial contracts, joint ventures, and corporate governance. He has particular experience in the transport and logistics, health and aged-care, and technology industries.
Davies is an expert in corporate transactions, particularly in due diligence, advisory, and commercial agreements work. She acts for clients in both the government and private sectors.
Grant Scott-Hayward, Gadens CEO, said that the national firm’s corporate advisory group has grown significantly over the last five years. The addition of the team, which acts for both domestic and international clients across a wide range of industries, further strengthens the practice group, he said.
“This is a win for us all,” Tracy and Nixey said in a statement. They said that Gadens clients will benefit from the expertise of the team, which can tap into the range of services and specialists offered by Gadens’ national network.
